Mountain Lodge Margit Hotel 2021

The location – on the village square between church and cemetery – inspired the basic idea for the construction of the new “Mountain Lodge Margit” in the rural village of Meransen beneath the Gitschberg massif.

To north and south on the eaves sides, spacious open surfaces were created, whose florally ornamented balconies are modelled on the style of old farmhouses. The façade behind is of modern design, with large windows offering magnificent views from Meransen to the mountains.

The consistent exterior and interior use of daisy-like ornamentation is a tribute to the owner and local personality, Margit (the name “margherita” means “daisy” in Italian). Like the façade, the interior design too references the peasant way of life: all holiday apartments have a turquoise-green tiled stove that forms a strong contrast with the wooden floors, walls, doors and furniture. In homage to the former “Stubenruss” inn, the black plasterwork in the kitchenette is reminiscent of the old kitchens used for smoking foodstuffs.
