Haus GJ Private 2025

The spiritual heritage of the townhouse at Griesgasse 6 dates back to the time of the knight Oswald von Wolkenstein zu Trostburg. The façade facing the street can be classified as turn of the century style – i.e. late 19th to early 20th century – and is unique within the streetscape in that the building has a rectangular, slightly protruding bay window with a simple sheet metal roof.

The façade was simply renovated and fitted with new lattice windows, with the historic vaults on the ground floor also preserved.
The three-storey building was converted into three apartments with a north-facing staircase. The interior design is based on late 20th-century furniture: the furniture, doors and floors in the living rooms and bedrooms are made of local dark walnut and suggest warmth and depth. The other materials are deliberately understated: the remaining floors and washbasins are of calm, homogeneous terrazzo, while the fine plastering in the bathrooms creates natural-looking surfaces with a handcrafted touch.
