Rittstein Hotel 2026

The »Rittstein« guesthouse, built in the 1960s and for many years providing accommodation along with a restaurant and spa, was demolished and rebuilt in the early 2020s: alongside holiday apartments, staff accommodation, a two-storey underground car park, storage rooms and a service apartment were all constructed.

The steeply sloping north-facing hillside required the structures to be carefully integrated into the landscape. Their positioning consequently follows gentle “movements” that are guided by the dynamics of the contours, which are in turn reflected in the varying pitches of the roofs. To ensure the greatest possible privacy for the residential units, each offers a quite different exterior view.

The very understated colour scheme of the exterior façades is inspired by the porphyry rock that characterises much of the local landscape: the reddish hue of the exposed concrete contrasts with the black anodised wood-aluminium of the windows.
